Homestay

International students are placed in quality homes in the community. School staff personally select homestays according to the wishes of the international student and her family. Living in a homestay helps students to learn English faster and gain understanding of New Zealand culture and customs.
Each student will be involved in family life and the family will take a continuous interest in her activities.
The family will provide three meals a day, including a lunch which is taken to school.
International students are members of the household and they may be expected to help with small tasks around the home just as New Zealand students do.
Otago Girls' High School has agreed to be bound by the Code of Practice for International Students published by the Ministry of Education. The code can be viewed at www.minedu.govt.nz.
