The Otago Girls’ High School Performing Arts Suite offers purpose built creative teaching, rehearsal and performance spaces. Each learning area has been designed to meet the needs of Dance, Drama, and Music. In August 2002, Ex-girl and former Governor General Dame Sylvia Cartwright officially opened the new Otago Girls’ High School gymnasium complex.

‘The gym’ is a state of the art multipurpose facility.  The complex includes a classroom with views spanning Dunedin, a meeting room, a training (weights) room and a full court sprung floor playing space.  This space can be divided into two playing areas by the electronic curtain.  The gym has lines for badminton, basketball, netball and volleyball.  Three storage rooms contain uniforms, small sports equipment and large equipment such as gymnastic mats.

The training room offers equipment such as free weights, machine weights, cardio machines (exercycles, treadmill and rowing machines) and a full length mirrored wall with a ballet rail.

Outside facilities include a purpose built hockey turf, six netball courts, three tennis courts and a three storied climbing wall.

These spaces are open and available for students to use before school, during lunch and after school.  At busy times of the year, groups wishing to use these facilities should use the gym booking system via the Sports Co-ordinator.
